Introduced in 2003 and developed for high production mining applications, the Cat® 385C Front Shovel delivers high bucket fill factors and fast cycle times to maximize productivity. Weighing in at just under 200,000 lbs. and measuring 46’9” long with the boom and stick fully extended, this high-performance loading tool delivers dependability, power and control under even the most adverse conditions.
Powered by a Cat C18 Diesel Engine equipped with ACERT™ technology, the 385C FS utilizes a water-cooled turbocharger which produces 530HP at the flywheel. Mounted on a durable undercarriage with an X-shaped carbody design, the weight of the upper structure is evenly distributed across the whole length of the track roller frame resulting in improved stability during work cycles.
The hydraulics, linkage, and master cylinder on this machine were all designed to provide maximum digging power. A parallelogram-type front linkage automatically keeps the bucket parallel to the ground, allowing for excellent penetration, fast loading, and a smooth floor cleanup. The operator can then focus on boom and stick control without the need to constantly adjust the bucket during the work cycle realizing an increase in production, while the bottom-dump bucket is capable of moving an impressive 7.5 cubic yards and over 10 tons in a single pass.
Beautifully reproduced in 2012, this 1:48 precision scale die-cast model features a fully detailed operator cab with opening door, as well as an engine access door which opens to reveal the meticulously replicated C18 engine. The fully articulated boom, stick, and bottom-dump bucket can be placed through a full range of motion matching the real machine, and provides you with multiple display positions.
