Introduced in 1980 as an upgrade to the D9H, the D9L was equipped with a Cat 3412 turbocharged diesel engine producing 460 flywheel HP at 1,900 RPM. Featuring a 3-speed planetary Power Shift Transmission, the D9L is capable of top forward speeds of 7.7 MPH and up to 9.6 MPH in reverse.
This machine was also the first D9 to utilize the raised final drive sprocket, which was originally introduced on the D10, to prevent impact loading and increase the life of the power train. The resilient mounted bogey undercarriage system further reduces impact loading on rollers and roller frames as well as providing improved traction. The tag link dozer stabilizer brings the blade close to the tracks for excellent machine balance and maneuverability, excellent control of the dozer and high blade penetration and pryout force.
With a wide range of available attachments, including a variety of bulldozers and rippers to match operating conditions, the D9L is unparalleled in its versatility. Configured with a Push Blade and Single-Shank Ripper with Push Block, the D9L excels in push-loading and tandem-loading applications.
