Introduced in 1984, the 650E line of Wheel-Tractor Scrapers featured a Cat 3412E diesel engine capable of producing 550 HP at 1,900 RPM.  The 657E also utilized a Cat 3408E engine at the rear of the scraper, increasing this machine’s output to 950 HP.
